Bergen aan Zee is much more than just beach and sea. The village is surrounded by the North Holland Dune Reserve. Miles of hiking and biking trails provide endless enjoyment. At 5,300 acres, the reserve is one of the largest natural areas in our country. The area extends from Wijk aan Zee to the Schoorl Dunes. It is about 20 kilometers long and about 2.5 kilometers wide on average. For even more restaurants or shopping you can visit the neighboring villages of Schoorl and Egmond, where fairs are held regularly, but especially the cozy artist village of Bergen is definitely worth a visit! In addition to a wide range of great stores and restaurants, the annual Art 10 Day in October is always very popular here. The cheese town of Alkmaar is not far from here and offers all the conveniences of a city, plus the traditional cheese market on Fridays.
